COVID-19 HX Community Response
We’ve had a fantastic response to the appeal for help and there
are now 15 sub-groups set up for different areas in Harold’s Cross.
The groups have dropped leaflets to every house in Harold’s Cross with local contact numbers for people who would like some help.
Following the government announcement of the Community
Call, Dublin City Council, are also receiving requests to be
passed on to the volunteers. Protocols are being put in place on how
to safely respond. We will have more details on that soon and they
will be posted in the Community Info section of this website. The
Dublin City Council Community Call phone number is 01-2228555 or
e-mail covidsupport@dublincity.ie
Harold’s Cross Community Festival
Regrettably it is no longer possible to hold the 2020 Community Festival in May. We’re challenging ourselves to come up with some ideas to have an alternative creative community experience without physically congregating – ideas welcome ! Please check here for updates
Developments
Thanks to diligent lobbying by the Harold’s Cross Village
Community Council and the magnificent support of our local
councillors the manager’s proposal to rezone Greenmount Industrial
Estate was roundly defeated at a special Council meeting in March.
The Vision2025 team continues to work with councillors and city
executives to deliver a statutory framework for the sustainable
development of the area.
New applications include developments at MG Motors, Scoil Mológa, 13 Shamrock Villas, rear of 16 Parnell Road, CRAFT restaurant and 11 Kenilworth Lane.

Old Mount Argus Monastery
The Monastery has been given a major renovation by the new owners.
An application to modify parts of the internal square and make a new
access entrance from Mount Argus Avenue has been lodged. Click: HERE.
It is planned to be co-living for homeless families – instead of
hotel rooms – before they are allocated houses. It will be run by a
housing agency on behalf of Dublin City Council. A meeting with the
developers and Dublin City Council is planned to clarify the details
of the proposal in advance submitting an observation on the planning
proposal.
