Open Garden, Plant Sale and Bonsai Exhibition – Our Lady’s Hospice – Saturday and Sunday
Plants will be available for sale on Saturday and Sunday the 19th and the 20th of May between 10.30 and 16.00. All donations will go toward supporting our vital services.
This year we will also have an exhibition of ‘Bonsoi Trees’ on display courtesy of Michael McCauley. Our Head Gardener, Eileen Nolan will be on hand to talk about the gardens and offer tips and advice.
The Hospice Gardens are a wonderful mix of both traditional and contemporary planting and design they are each distinctive and much loved gardens that are well worth a visit.
Our ‘Journey on Earth’ – The Hospice Garden’ won the ‘People’s Choice Award’ and a Silver Guild medal at the Bloom Festival 2013.
An inspiration to all those that visit, the garden reflects our belief that Palliative Care is not preparation for the end of life it is an opportunity to celebrate someone special and their time on earth. Our patients’ spiritual and emotional journeys are echoed in this new garden with areas of social interaction as well as areas for quiet reflection, complimented by a variety of sensory experiences and memories for all who visit.
Our wonderful Rose Garden, formally known as the nun’s garden, appeals to many of the senses as it is rich in colour and evocative scents. This established and much loved garden has sheltered areas for visitors and reflects seasonal changes providing a constant source of interest throughout the year.
This is a ‘family fun day’ for everyone to enjoy.
