Harold's Cross

Join us for an evening of vintage fashion and fun on Wednesday 14 May at 7.30pm at Harold’s Cross Community Hall,  D6W VY70. The Jenny Vander shop on Drury Street is legendary, and widely regarded as the place to go for a stylish and unique outfit. For decades, it has been a firm favourite with students because of its captivating range of cocktail dresses, ball gowns and accessories, ideal for college balls and events. It has also dressed actors, supermodels and musicians. Its famous customers include Michael Keaton, Naomi Campbell, Yasmin Le Bon, Debbie Harry, Florence Welch, Aurora and Saoirse Ronan. Lorna Marie Mugan, stylist for Ordinary People, sourced many of Marianne’s (Daisy Edgar Jones) dresses at Jenny Vander.

We are delighted to welcome its owner Gail Kinsella and her daughter Sally to the 2025 Harold’s Cross Festival on Wednesday 14 May at 7.30pm at Harold’s Cross Community Hall,  D6W VY70. They will talk about the history of this wonderful shop; the challenge of sourcing good vintage stock for it and (while not spilling any beans!) some stand out moments – so far!  

Sustainability has always been a leading value in the HX community, and it is as important in fashion as anywhere else. There are serious ethical and environmental concerns surrounding “fast fashion”. One of the purposes of this evening will be to emphasise the advantages of cherishing handpicked pieces that can form part of your wardrobe for years.

You are invited (indeed, expected!) to don your favourite vintage outfit to attend what promises to be a fantastic evening celebrating vintage fashion. Please come along. Before you do, have a chat with your mother and father or, perhaps even better, your grandmother and grandfather, and ask their permission to borrow from their wardrobe in curating your own outfit for the evening – unless they plan to attend wearing it themselves, of course!

There will be spot prizes for best dressed audience members, with a special category for senior citizens and students.
