The River Poddle
The Poddle rises in Cookstown, Tallaght and meanders through Dublin until it empties itself into the Liffey at Wellington Quay. Once the principal water supply for Dublin citizens, the river has endured a number of man-made interventions, which increased volume and flow, provided water supply to areas with no water source and reduced flooding. These interventions have reshaped and distorted the course of the original Poddle, of which a large portion of the river flows underground. More information here.
